क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी एक डिजिटल या आभासी मुद्रा है जिसे क्रिप्टोग्राफी द्वारा सुरक्षित किया जाता है, जिससे नकली या दोहरा खर्च करना लगभग असंभव हो जाता है  | कई क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी ब्लॉकचैन तकनीक पर आधारित विकेन्द्रीकृत नेटवर्क हैं - कंप्यूटर के एक अलग नेटवर्क द्वारा लागू एक वितरित खाता बही | क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी की एक परिभाषा विशेषता यह है कि वे आम तौर पर किसी भी केंद्रीय प्राधिकरण द्वारा जारी नहीं की जाती हैं , जो उन्हें सैद्धांतिक रूप से सरकारी हस्तक्षेप या हेरफेर से प्रतिरक्षा प्रदान करती हैं |

पहली ब्लॉकचेन  - आधारित क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी बिटकॉइन थी , जो अभी भी सबसे लोकप्रिय और सबसे मूल्यवान बनी हुई है | आज विभिन्न कार्यो और विसशिताओ के साथ हजारो विकल्पिक क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी हैं | इनमे से कुछ बिटकॉइन के क्लोन या कांटे हैं ,जबकि अन्य नई मुद्रा है जिन्हे खरोंच से बनाया गया था | 

बिटकॉइन को 2009 में एक व्यक्ति या समूह द्वारा लॉन्च किया गया था ,जिसे छह्ण नाम "सातोशी नकामोटो "के नाम से जाना जाता है | 1 मार्च 2021 तक ,लगभग 927 बिलियन डॉलर के कुल मार्केट कैप के साथ 18.6 मिलियन से अधिक बिटकॉइन प्रचलन में थे | 

बिटकॉइन की सफलता से उत्पन्न कुछ प्रत्शप्रधि क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी ,जिन्हे "ऑल्टकॉइन " के रूप में जाना जाता है , में लिटकॉइन , पीरकॉइन और नेमकॉइन , के साथ ही एथेरियम , कार्डानो और ईओएस शामिल हैं | आज , अस्तित्व में  मौजूद सभी  क्रिप्टोकोर्रेंसी का कुल मूल्य लगभग $1.5  ट्रीलियन  है - बिटकॉइन वर्तमान में कुल मूल्य के 60 % से अधिक का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है  |

Understanding Cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrencies are systems that allow secure payments online, represented as virtual "tokens", which are represented by internal ledger entries in the system. "Crypto" refers to the various encryption algorithms and cryptographic techniques that protect these entries, such as elliptic curve encryption, public-private key pairs, and hashing functions.

Today there are thousands of alternative cryptocurrencies with different functions and specifications. Bitcoin was launched in 2009 by an individual or group known by the short name "Satoshi Nakamoto". As of March , 2021, there were over 18.6 million bitcoins in circulation with a total market cap of approximately $927 billion.
